Compare the2027 Chevrolet BoltVS 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6

2027 Chevrolet Bolt
2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6

Safety

The Bolt has standard Post Collision Braking, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Ioniq 6 doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Both the Bolt and the Ioniq 6 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available around view monitors and driver alert monitors.

Warranty

There are over 3 times as many Chevrolet dealers as there are Hyundai dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Bolt’s warranty.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are more reliable than Hyundai vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet above average in long-term dependability. With 33 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Hyundai is rated below average.

Engine

The Bolt’s electric motor produces 61 more horsepower (210 vs. 149) than the Ioniq 6 Standard Range’s standard electric motor.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the Bolt gets better mileage than the Ioniq 6:

Bolt

Electric Motor

134 city/106 hwy

Ioniq 6

RWD

SEL/Limited Electric Motor

123 city/100 hwy

AWD

SEL/Limited Electric Motors

111 city/94 hwy

The Bolt can travel longer on a full charge than the Ioniq 6 Standard Range (262 miles vs. 240 miles).

Tires and Wheels

The Bolt’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Ioniq 6 SE’s standard 55 series tires.

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the Bolt’s turning circle is 1.1 feet tighter than the Ioniq 6’s (37.7 feet vs. 38.8 feet).

Chassis

The Bolt is 1 foot, 9.5 inches shorter than the Ioniq 6, making the Bolt easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Passenger Space

The Bolt has .9 inches more rear headroom and 4.4 inches more rear legroom than the Ioniq 6.

Servicing Ease

A maintenance reminder system is standard on the Bolt to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals for tire rotation, based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Hyundai doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Ioniq 6.

Ergonomics

The Bolt’s front and rear power windows all lower with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Ioniq 6’s standard power windows’ passenger windows don’t open automatically. The Ioniq 6 SEL/Limited’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to lower them fully.

The Bolt’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Ioniq 6’s available power window controls are spread out on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Bolt has a standard rear wiper. The Ioniq 6 doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The Bolt’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Ioniq 6’s power mirror controls are on the dash where they are possibly hidden by the steering wheel and are awkward to manipulate.
